Accessing ID variable from client

Hi,
We do a ACBC survey and client itself takes care of screener & Demographics section.
After screener section client passing us link to ACBC section with ID. The ID variable is labeled $trans_id.
Sawtooth says error when we try to create $trans_id in either 'Pass-In fields' or 'Password fields'.
We requested client to try some other variable label but client said they have passed to sawtooth this way before.

are we doing anything wrong while creating or accessing ID variable from client?

We need to understand all the ways a variable can be passed in.

What error message was seen?
The pass-in Field name '$trans_id' is not valid. Name cannot begin with numbers or other invalid characters. Please rename it and try again.
My guess is that your client may be misremembering.  If the software ever permitted variable names to start with special characters, it was likely many years ago.

Hi Adbul,

In the end, the name of the panel provider's ID variable in Lighthouse Studio does not matter. You could name it "abcde" if you wanted. You would be able to pass the variable back to your panel provider through their re-direct link as long as your panel provider inserted the actual ID correctly into the one-click link.

You are receiving an error message because of the "_" in "Strans_id". Lighthouse Studio does not allow this special character for variable names. You could name it Stransid to make it clear to your panel provider that they need to replace VALUE in  Stransid=VALUE  with the actual value.
