Unhappy that version 8 is no longer supported

Is anyone else upset that version 8 is no longer supported?

We paid a lot of money for each module of version 8 so we are legacy subscribers for a lifetime.

Auto upload was a breeze, now there are many steps to upload and then many steps to re-upload.  We upload what our clients consider final for the clients to test.  Then they make changes one or two more times so the requirement for the manual upload is even more time consuming.

Please reinstate the auto upload for version 8.  This is the worst possible time (we have lost clients due to the pandemic) to take away features.

We feel like we are being forced to upgrade to a new version which we just cannot afford at this time.  Maybe when business is back to normal, but not now.

Dear SSI Web v8 User,

We understand that you are upset about the recent changes we have made to our hosting system where we now require SSI Web v8 users to manually upload their surveys.  We are sorry about this inconvenience and the extra steps that are now required.

Because of security reasons we can no longer allow an out-of-date security protocol called TLS 1.0 on our hosting system.  TLS 1.0 is used by SSI Web v8 to upload surveys.  TLS 1.0 was an industry standard years ago but is now long out of date (see: https://security.googleblog.com/2018/10/modernizing-transport-security.html).  Continuing to support this older unsecure protocol would put our clients’ data and our servers at risk.  

You can continue to use SSI Web v8 for as long as you would like.  You can also continue to host with us, however as you mentioned there are additional steps (see: https://sawtoothsoftware.com/resources/knowledge-base/sawtooth-hosting/ssiweb8-manual-hosting).  If you give me a call, I have some tips for how updating your survey after the initial upload could be made easier (for example not all files need to be re-uploaded every time).

We considered updating SSI Web v8, but made the decision to focus our efforts on our latest version, Lighthouse Studio v9.  SSI Web v8 was initially shipped almost 9 years ago, and we will be officially ending support for it on December 31, 2020.

We do understand that this is a hard year with all that is going on and to add to that the recent changes we have made to our hosting system.  We would like to help with this transition.  Please give us (or me personally) a call and we will see if we can help you in some way (for example maybe we can help with a Lighthouse Studio subscription).
