How to calculate Max Diff scores after cleaning data (v8.1)

We have a relatively large survey that just came out of field. It had one MaxDiff exercise among many other things. We want to download the data into SPSS to clean out flatliners, illogical respondents, etc, and THEN compute scores in SSI. Is there a way to do this? To pull the data in after exporting and making edits to the files? I'm thinking that might just the the paper/pencil data import?

If you know the internal respondent numbers of the data you want to clean out then you can create a .csv file with sys_RespNum in the first column and second column (let's call it "filter") of all ones. You can import this data using the Merge External Data option on the Get Data tab of Data Management. This will append that variable onto your existing data, setting it to one for the specified respondents and leaving it blank for everyone else. Then, you can create a filter to exclude respondents when "filter" is equal to one during MaxDiff analysis.
