Practical limit on Merged Fields

Is there any practical limit on merged fields?
For instance, if I have 400.000 possible respondents with 20 fields of information each, using that all those as merged fields,
Will it work?
Will this make the survey to be too slow?

Hi Victor,

The merged field information is placed in a database table next to the unique ids (usernames or passwords) that you setup.  There should not be a problem when respondents sign into the survey and the data is merged into their data record.

However 400.000 is a large number and if you are actually collecting 400.000 data records you could run into other speed problems.  I'd suggest calling in and talking to our hosting team about how to collect that much data.

It would be a survey with a huge namelist of customers that would be contacted by telephone.
Of those in the database we would actually only interview around 1,000

Anyhow we managed to implement this via pass in fields instead of merged fields.

Thanks for the quick reply,
