What is the random starting seed?

Hello everybody,

what is the effect of setting the, by default, random starting seed to a specific number?
So, which parameter(s) are excactly defined by the starting seed?

Thank you very much for your help!

Chris, are you referring to the seed value used within a Randomize() statement?
Paul, I am referring to the iterations starting seed in the iterations settings of the CBC / HB estimation.
Thanks Chris.

I see Bryan has kindly chimed in with the appropriate response.

I use seeds myself to keep randomisation the same at different points within the survey.

Randomization functions require a starting seed to generate a series of random numbers...think of it as a different shuffle of the deck in playing cards.
