Fortunately the Affinova guys actually list the patent numbers, with links, for the methods they have developed, so in theory you could find out exactly what it is they do. [So many companies seem to claim to have patented something, then try to keep it a big secret, when the whole idea of patents is to allow others to find out the detail, so that you don't run the risk of infringing.]
Have a look at the Excel add-in called Genehunter. it's a rather cool piece of software that is fun to play with, and also rather useful (e.g. I use it for TUR analysis).
